Karen Cherrington

Karen Cherrington is a qualified counsellor, offering a professional and confidential counselling service for Tipton and Dudley (West Midlands). Karen is a fully accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, as well as a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor. Karen’s  qualifications include both a psychology degree and a diploma in counselling.

Experienced Counsellor

Karen gained full qualification in 2008 and BACP Accreditation in 2012 and so has many years of counselling experience to offer. Karen’s career to date includes several years working with the Samaritans, where she was able to support people through a broad range of issues. Karen has also worked with young people at The What Centre, Stourbridge, along with supporting victims of crime with Victim Support and has provided on-site counselling support at a local NHS GP Surgery. Along side these varied roles, Karen has continued to offer one-to–one counselling via her private practice with referrals accepted from local employers, schools, insurance companies and the NHS.

Integrative Counselling and Supervision

Karen Cherrington is primarily an integrative counsellor offering a ‘person-centered’  approach at the core. Other counselling theories integrated include Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Karen offers a standard fee of £40 (50 minutes), along with discounted counselling services for a select number of individuals and student counsellors.

Karen Cherrington also offers a supervision service. This is primarily offered to counsellors as part of their ethical framework. It is also offered to counselling students on placement. Other helping professions may find this useful to help with difficult issues that they may be facing such as teachers facing pastoral issues. She offers a standard fee of £60 per 1.5 hour session. This may be discounted in some circumstances.
